Impact measurement

Ecstra Foundation’s impact and measurement framework has been developed with Social Ventures Australia to help us and our partners assess, measure and understand the impact of our work.

Understanding and measuring the impact of our collective efforts is vital if we are to achieve sustained improvements in financial wellbeing.

45 new and existing grant partners have onboarded to Ecstra's Impact and Measurement Framework and Outcomes Tool since our 2021 launch.

Outcomes measurement at Ecstra

Our Impact Framework identifies the outcomes we seek to achieve across of our impact areas. Ecstra’s Outcomes Tool includes an indicator bank and measures for each of these outcomes.

Partners are invited to select outcomes and indicators from the framework that align to their project/grant and to incorporate these into their impact and measurement reporting.

We have created the Outcomes Tool to help make selecting outcomes and indicators as streamlined as possible for eligible grant partners. This online tool also includes guidance material, a theory of change template, recommended survey questions and FAQs.

The framework is used for all new Ecstra grants with a grant value of $50,000 or more. To request access to the Outcomes Tool, please email info@ecstra.org.au.

Consistent measurement and contributing to ‘what works’

These practical online tools are designed to help our grant partners with outcomes planning, to consistently measure the impact of their work and to share insights and feedback. The framework also helps Ecstra measure and track our organisational contribution and effectiveness.

Applying consistent outcomes and measurement approaches contributes to a more rigorous evidence base of ‘what works’ in building financial wellbeing, helping to ensure better outcomes for clients and communities. It also:

  • helps organisations understand and explain the impact of their work

  • enables comparative analysis of initiatives

  • helps inform program design/refinement, system change and policy responses

  • supports greater sector collaboration and sharing of insights/data.
